Find out what eyebrow shape suits your face:
A face shape dictates a brow shape. We give you the low-down on which option is right for your clients and which shape dictates a brow shape.
For round faces
Thick, sharp and high arches work best for those with a round face Find out what eyebrow shape suits your face. Flat eyebrows are a big no-no. A high arched eyebrow adds length to the face and lifts the face structure vertically, making it look more angular and sharper. The hair in the eyebrow should be groomed in a way that they point upwards. A simple trick to maintain the shape is to use a solid brown pencil to define the arch and fill in the gaps.
Aanal Savaliya, creative director at Orange Salons and Spa, Ahmedabad, explains how to use the eyebrow pencil right. She says, “Start at the outer end of the brow and then run the eyebrow pencil through the rest of it. Keep the edges darker than the middle. Opt for a few extra flicks of the pencil, if needed, to nail the perfect arch and create the illusion of a slimmer face.
For square or rectangular faces
Glamorous beauties such as Marilyn Monroe and Anushka Sharma are perfect examples of square-shaped faces. Their distinct jawline is their most defined feature, and while it is much coveted, excessively angular eyebrows make your client’s features look harsh. Opt for thicker eyebrows with a softer arch to tone down her features and make your client’s face appear less squarish and angular. Soft arched eyebrows, especially for those with wide-set eyes, work perfectly and balance out the face beautifully. Don’t go too thin or too thick with the brows.
For heart-shaped faces
This face shape is supposed to be in perfect symmetry and therefore a makeup artiste’s delight. While most eyebrow shapes work well with this face shape, remember these tips to get the most flattering eyebrows for your client’s face. A pointed chin is a prominent feature in a heart-shaped face. A low arched round brow will soften the sharp chin and add a more delicate look to the face. But if your client has a small heart-shaped face, opt for brows with a sharp arch to add dimension.
For diamond-shaped faces
This face shape is characterized by wide and high cheekbones. Sarreetaa Karkhanif, co-founder of Darshan Beauty Salons, Ahmedabad, says, “Diamond-shaped faces are not common. A high arched, angular brow is not meant for this face shape, as it already has strong features. To soften the look, opt for eyebrows that have a gentle angle at the end, and are thick and rounded at the start.” A balanced arch that is partly round and angular at the edges emphasizes your client’s strong facial features while balancing out the width, thus making the face look more feminine. Diamond-shaped faces are not common. A high arched, angular brow is not meant for this face shape, as it already has strong features.

- Always use a slanted tweezer for precision and grip.
- Tweeze the ingrowths once a week to ensure that your eyebrows look well-groomed. Preferably tweeze after a warm water shower. The warm water opens up the pores, making it easy and relatively less painful to pluck the hair.
