3 reasons to not take him back:
It really depends how the relationship was and how it ended. If things were civil then sure, its different. There is nothing wrong with someone putting themselves first and ending a relationship if that is what they are doing. Whether it be to focus on school their career etc.
Reason #1: You’re lonely
It’s been a month since you broke off and you miss having someone to share and experience things with. Your couple friends are brimming over with sympathy and you just want things to go back to being the way they were. But finding it hard to handle the transition from couplehood to singledom is not a good enough reason to get back with your ex. There’s a reason (or reasons) why you two broke up, remind yourself of them.
Reason #2: You’re scared to try something new
Getting back in the dating game after a breakup is hard. What makes it harder is if you resist the change that this period brings. Most decisions made out of fear—personal, professional or financial ones—tend to be ones you regret in the long-term. If you’re getting back with an ex because you’re afraid of change, then it’s unlikely that you will be willing to make the changes necessary to make the relationship work. So Relationship Round 2 is likely to be problematic right from the start.
Reason #3: People don’t change
If you’re considering taking your ex back because you believe he’s changed or if you feel you can change him, then you’re playing with fire (the kind that burns down houses!). If the reason for your breakup is because of a serious behavioural problem (he cheated on you, he’s abusive, he doesn’t respect you, etc), then it’s highly unlikely that things will be different the second time around. “Trust is an important cornerstone of any relationship and once it’s lost it’s near to impossible to get it back,” says Tarana, whose live-in boyfriend of six years cheated on her by repeatedly engaging in phone sex.
