One of the main reasons why you break out is bacterial infections. It could be due to unhygienic conditions or if your skin is exposed to a germ-packed environment. Naturally, your skin is bound to react, and that’s when you suffer from acne. Honey, traditionally known for its anti-bacterial properties, prevents further inflammation of the skin due to bacteria.

Kefir, a probiotic that keeps your gut healthy and functional is also very good for the skin—the component alpha-hydroxy acid works towards sloughing away dead skin cells and stimulating the production of collagen. When applied on the skin, kefir acts as a protective blanket that bars bacteria from entering the skin hence reducing any more infections. Naturally, including this in your homemade acne treatment face masks is just what you need!
